Fabulous Fun this February Half-Term at Birmingham MuseumsThere’s lots of fun for every generation this Half-Term at Birmingham Museums.

Enjoy a family day out at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and unearth the story of the Staffordshire Hoard. The new gallery is open every day and is FREE to visit.

After your visit, sample tasty treats in the Edwardian Tearooms including nettle tea and ‘Anglo-Saxon’ stew.

Keep the kids entertained with lots of other activities at  Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery throughout the week:

Create a Creature 

Join artist Lucy Reed to make a creature inspired by our new exhibition, New Art West Midlands.

Mon 16 – Fri 20 Feb, 11am-1pm & 2-4pm, £1 per child

Storytime

Grab a cushion and hear funny and fascinating stories in our galleries.

Hands-on History

Have a go at holding some of the most weird and wonderful artefacts from our collections! Our friendly volunteers will be on hand to help you work out what these strange objects are.

Blakesley Hall Open Day – Tue 17 FebTake a guided tour of Blakesley Hall at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm (£4 adults, £3 concessions, under 16s free).

Get up close to meerkats, giant rabbits and creepy-crawlies with the popular ‘Animal Mania’ (£1 per person).

Take part in craft activities 1-3pm (£1 per child).

Milling and Baking at Sarehole Mill – Wed 18 FebSee our watermill in action as we grind wheat into flour.

Learn about bread making as our bakers use the clay oven to bake a variety of tasty breads!

Dance and Play Day at Soho House – Fri 20 FebSoho House teams up with the Urban Angels Project and Birmingham Royal Ballet for this special one off event.

Urban Angels Project will be leading sessions on old childhood games as part of their ‘Playing in the Past’ project, and Birmingham Royal Ballet will be involving everyone with their ‘Ballet? What’s that?’ sessions.

See amazing costumes on display, as well as the chance to take part in dance workshops, watch performances and get advice on healthy lifestyles!

Tiger Skins of Sunlight

Tiger Skins of Sunlight, a collection of movers, shakers and magic makers present ‘The Song of The Woods’.

 With a community willow lantern parade and singing from Ark Tindal Primary Academy and King’s Heath Primary school choir, we are holding a beautiful winter celebration in local parks Cannon Hill and Highbury, with a live open air film screening of a shadow puppet story featuring the song ‘The Woods’ by The Phlox of Pink.
Please join us on :
Tuesday 25th November at 5:30pm (prompt) -6:30pm in Cannon Hill Park, Balsall Heath (meeting by the entrance opposite Cannon Hill Road)
and Thursday 27th November at 6pm (prompt) -7pm in Highbury Park, King’s Heath (meeting by the High Street entrance).

Our finale evening event will be held at The Old Printworks  06/12/14 with a final screening of our film and live performance  by The Phlox of Pink starting at 9pm (18+ £3) A full moon, stunning celebration showcasing the work of the community and all of the artists involved!!!Links
